This Territory Goes Uncharted

The new Sara Bareilles album Kaleidoscope Heart comes out next week on the 7th of September! I’m beyond excited to hear the rest of her new songs. Here is one of the new tunes that I heard a preview of when she posted a “making of” video on her website some months ago. The full track, “Uncharted”, is in every little bit what I expected to hear from Sara… a quirky, frank and intelligent upbeat number glazed in pop perfection. Buy the new album when it comes out please. Thank you!

Sara Bareilles – “Uncharted

Hello September

Here we go again…

When it’s all said and done
And the night has come
I’ll disappear
Take flight on the wind
of wishing you were here
Fading light
Like a star whose life has been gone for years

And I’ll fly, fly across the sky
And I’ll leave, leave it all behind
If you’ll be here, here with me tonight
I’ll be fine… I’ll be fine… I’ll be fine…

Mae – “Awakening

It’s going to be a long month…

Please Speak Well of Me

the weepiesThe Weepies are back! Finally! New album Be My Thrill comes out at the end of August. Here is one of the slower tracks from the new album. Lovely, as expected. Nothing but delightful goodness from this talented and mesmerizing duo.

Two thumbs up! =)

You Get What You Give

zac brown band - you get what you giveI wrote about them back when they were still unpopular and without a major record label. Four consecutive #1 country hits later (a rare feat for a debut artist still on their first album in country music) and a best new artist grammy award, Zac Brown Band returns with a brand new album You Get What You Give on September 21st 2010. First single, “As She’s Walking Away”, sounds golden… a reminder of the best and most diverse era for country music – the 90’s. It features country superstar Alan Jackson on guest vocals, which is kind of ironic because now its these rising stars helping save the superstar’s slowly waning glory. With ZBB’s success, these guys seem to be even more grounded than ever just keeping their music as real as possible. Its so easy to root for them, and I’m proud to say I’m even more of a fan now than I was before. Their songs are prime examples of how captivating music is when you keep it simple and sincere. Big kudos to the guys!

Hang With Me Just The Way You Are

Bruno Mars - Just The Way You AreAs I’ve stated before, pop music doesn’t have to be cringeworthy. Take for instance current chart sensation Bruno Mars (real name Peter Hernandez II). I just love his voice. You can tell he sings from his soul, and he’s a singer-songwriter who happens to be half Filipino (and half Puerto Rican). Because of that, I am rooting for him. And because he actually deserves to succeed and is really talented, it just makes it all the more easier to really like him and his music. He has appeared in the top 40 of radio station playlists all over the world three times so far this year. Two of those being features (B.o.B.’s “Nothin’ On You”, and Travie McCoy’s “Billionaire”), and the third being his first solo hit that’s currently blazing towards the top. That song, “Just The Way You Are, is what I’m putting up here because I LOVE it! It’s not a cover of the popular Billy Joel song, but its got a similar theme. You can already hear it on the radio, but I am just addicted to it. I know some of you don’t listen to the radio anymore, so here it is in case you’re missing it. (An excuse just to share the song with you guys. haha!) Simple lyrics, but very heartfelt! Album coming in the fall.

Robyn- Body Talk Pt2The other artist on this entry is Robyn. Her Body Talk series is making some noise! The second EP of the series, Body Talk Pt.2, comes out on September 6th and is preceded by a new version of an acoustic track from part 1, “Hang With Me”, remixed into an upbeat hypnotic and addictive number serving as part 2’s first single. The response to this move has been overwhelmingly positive. Robyn is on fire!

Helium Hearts

jason reeves - helium heartsJason Reeves!!! Brand new album!!! Me = excited! I heart this guy. He’s like a modern-day hippie, high on love and stuff like that. His songs make you feel good with less of the cheese factor because he is just so genuine. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve praised this guy in the past. For the uninformed, this is Colbie Caillat’s songwriting partner for most of her songs, especially the hits. That “Terrified” song which got quite popular after American Idol earlier this year was also co-written by this guy. ‘Nuff said. New album, tentatively titled The Lovesick, will be coming out in the fall. Here is the first single, “Helium Hearts”, available on iTunes starting August 17th. We have it here for your listening pleasure, but make sure you buy it when it comes out on your favorite digital music retailer two weeks from now.

Jason Reeves – “Helium Hearts

What Jason says about the song: “It’s about falling in love and the love being so joyous and light that you just float up into the sky away from the madness of this world.” See what I mean? The guy is high! In a good way haha. Can’t wait to hear the rest of the new songs.

I’m Not Sure If I Can Help You This Time

This is one of the best songs that came out of 2007, and one of my all-time favorite songs. Its been playing and playing through my head for the past couple of weeks for some reason. If you don’t give this a try just because you don’t recognize the band, then you’re missing out big time! Thought I’d share it with you guys…

the dykeenies - clean up your eyesThe Dykeenies – “Clean Up Your Eyes

You breathe in when I breathe out
It’s not likely I’ll ever feel this far
From someone, from anyone at all
If you leave now you leave with a piece of me, and a piece of us
It’s not likely I’d ever feel it anymore…
