Nick Jonas has taken a bold new step to penetrate the pop world with a new sound. He is no longer part of the trio of brothers that stole the hearts of millions of teenagers. There is a new look and a new sound for Nick that may surprise some people.
Nick has been generous enough to let fans listen to the album on the Rolling Stones website. The album will not be available until November 10th, but fans can hear the hit "Jealous" and other album tracks on the Rolling Stones or Vevo websites. This album is different from other Jonas projects. One noted difference is the fact that this new album contains an explicit lyrics sign.
It certainly has appealed to a pop audience, but the real test will be whether Jonas finds favor with the R&B crowd that he appears to be influenced by. He has named Prince and Stevie Wonder as big influences. His current hit "Jealous" has been remixed by R&B newcomer Tinashe so it is obvious that Nick is hungry for urban radio attention.
Some might say that Nick is looking for a spot among pop and R&B crossover acts like Justin Timberlake. Fans Like Lovett certainly feel so. The different is the approach. Timberlake went all out with a total production makeover from Timbaland when he started his solo career. Nick Jonas is still playing it relatively safe with more pop sounds.
